We live in a time with access to so much information BUT the quality of that information is very low. The internet has given everyone and everything with access to it the chance to have a voice. The problem is that the voice given is not always high quality.
People often talk about doing research BUT when you do research what sources are you using? The internet is really good at giving everyone a microphone and it is also good at not determining if the voice is credible with the information that it is sharing. Too often opinions are being pushed forward as factually based. People hear something that they agree with but it is actually incorrect. We are all born with bias and too often that bias is very small and inconsequential but with individuals you also get groups. The problem is that too many people will find something they agree with and are willing to ignore all of the things that they disagree about.
Currently we live in a society where people are comfortable and content with mediocrity because others are willing to be comfortable and content with it.
If you cannot locate the source of information you are reading and not sure if you trust the reading then do not allow that information to shape your views on the world around you.
We cannot have a serious conversation if any party in the discussion cannot validate the information that is shaping their view of the topic at hand. I get you feel a certain way but the way you feel should be based on more than your singular experience / reality.
We struggle more today because people are content with their opinions rather than understanding that their experience is valid but it may not be duplicated consistently enough to be the same as others.
