Sincere Ignorance and Conscientious Stupidity. Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior said this once. And in 2024 it is still a relevant saying to say.
People are more accepting of ignorance than ever before. People are more filled with stupidity than ever before.
We have always had our opinions that are based on our own facts. What has changed now, and honestly over the last decade, is our lack of accepting that how we feel means more to us than how things actually are. We have grown from being individuals in how we feel to being siloed with groups of people that agree with us individually. This is dangerous because it shapes our view of reality, often in not so great ways.
Society has lowered the bar of education by focusing on TESTING rather than actually teaching. In order to actually teach you must instill a desire to learn. That desire to learn is created by the teachers that educate our children. Teachers do not have that room no longer as test scores matter more than children actually wanting to learn. The leaders we elect failed us and we continue to elect leaders that fail us.
We now live in a time where morals are proclaimed by those choosing someone with no morals. Things that was once reprehensible now barely make people think twice. Because basic civics is not learned because society does not care about learning many people that once someone is elected they are elected forever and cannot be removed. Basically ignoring the fact that an election has the sole purpose of electing people.
Too many people have expectations of elected officials that are not based on how things work. People are expecting the Executive branch to do what the Legislative branch actually does. Too many people are expecting the Federal government to do what the State government actually does. Too many people are expecting the state government to do what the local city and county government actually does. These false set of expectations have many people blaming the wrong people for the problems and never actually working towards resolving the problems they encounter.
People individually are not expected to be smart or great at everything, but collectively we can be smart or great at everything. It starts by infusing some basic desire to learn into the society around us and not dislike or hate for the people around us.
Love and Patience cost nothing yet is very hard to find. Lets work to share some of it with others so that there is more around.
