Good versus Bad, which is easier?

This topic of good versus bad is lined in our society in many ways. BUT the discussion of which is easier to be happens more often than we realize.

Which is easier to be: Good or Bad? It truly depends on one’s individual perspective to find the answer. My perspective leans on the view that to be good requires more work, hence is, harder to be good than it is to be bad.

Now the premise behind my thought is that you have to do something to be good, whereas you can do absolutely nothing and be bad. This premise is based on a wide variety of things that happen in everyday life. Most of the good things require you to do a minimum of a single thing to be good but often a chain of things are needed. To be bad it mostly allows you to do zero things at a minimum. The lack of doing something can be good sometimes but it often times is not the case.

I am a firm believer in the idea that just because it takes more work does not mean that it is harder. Being patient requires work. Being kind requires work. Being a loving person requires work. All of those things can make you a good person but it does not mean you are a good person. Being a good person is never based on how you view yourself, it is how others view you. And no this is not a popularity contest. This is based on the people that know you. The way society collectively views what you have done for it. People can be led the wrong way about someone. They can believe someone is good, that someone is kind. And that is okay. Because we are human we are not able to truly treat everyone the exact same and have them feel the same about us. No matter how hard you work to give someone your good side it does not mean it was received in the way you gave it. And we often fail in that. We think that because we did what we felt was right that someone should be appreciative of what we did rather than accepting that we did what we felt was right / best but it was not received in that way. Again it takes more work to be good than bad.

People, and I include myself in the collective, are funny in that they rarely step back and see things through the eyes of someone else. We cannot always see it through their perspective but we can try and not see it only through our perspective. It is easy to see the good or bad in someone, that does not mean that someone is good or bad though.

Another aspect to consider. Someone is good in the eyes of someone else but bad in the eyes of another. Which is correct? Both! No one will be good to everyone, nor will they be bad to everyone. Everyone is loved and hated, by different people of course.

If you feel differently that is fine. That is what makes us all the individuals that we are but often times we are more of a collective than we desire to realize. Many people believe being bad is harder. And will have a myriad of things to do. And that is what makes this discussion so fascinating. People do not realize that how they see the world is a reflection of who they are and it tells a whole lot about their faith and belief in other people.
